Sister Ruth Fagan was born in Zwingle, Iowa, to Florence and Francis Fagan. She grew up with one brother and two sisters. Sister entered the congregation in 1953 and was received in 1954. She received her bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff University, Sioux City, Iowa, and her master’s degree from St. Thomas University, Houston, Texas. She taught in elementary schools in Dubuque, Templeton, Iowa, and Blaine, Minn. Sister taught religious education at parishes in Jefferson, Iowa; Blairsville/Hiawassee, Gerogia; and Cleveland, Georgia. She was part of Stonehill Franciscan Services’ activity team and also served with the Dubuque Archdiocesan Religious Education team. “‘Holiness is living life to the hilt,’” said Sister Ruth of celebrating her Jubilee.
