Sister Ann Rubly

Sister Ann Rubly was the second of five children born to Ray and Amanda (Bruggeman) Rubly in Petersburg, Iowa.  She attended SS Peter and Paul School, Petersburg; St. Boniface, New Vienna, Iowa; and Immaculate Conception Academy, Dubuque.  She entered into the congregation in 1953, with her sister, Lene, and was received in 1954.  Sister Ann taught lower and middle grades at St. Mary of the Woods, Edgebrook, Illinois; Immaculate Conception, North Buena Vista, Iowa; Immaculate Conception, North Washington, Iowa; St. Benedict’s, St. Benedict, Iowa, and St. Mary’s, Waterloo, Iowa.  After 16 years, she switched to parish ministry at Corpus Christi Parish, Chicago, where she ministered for over 40 years.  “I have deep and perennial gratitude for my Franciscan vocation and for the favor of ministering among African American people these many years,” said Sister Ann.
